Kettlebuddy privacy policy
Kettlebuddy is a home-workout app for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: Kettlebuddy doesn't collect any data. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone.
No account, no server, no tracking
- You don't need an account, and there's no login.
- Kettlebuddy has no server. Nothing you enter or train is sent to the developer or to anyone else.
- There are no ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting services and no tracking of any kind. Kettlebuddy contains no third-party code that collects data.
What stays on your iPhone
Kettlebuddy stores the following on your iPhone so it can plan and log your workouts:
- Your profile, if you give it: sex, year of birth, height, weight and training experience. Every field is optional.
- Your goals and settings: training days, session length, home equipment and the weights you own, timer and sound settings.
- Your training: workouts, plans, programs, every logged set, session ratings and notes, and what you tell the planner about how you feel (low energy, sore spots).
This data is part of your iPhone's normal backup (iCloud or your computer), like the data of any app. Deleting Kettlebuddy deletes it from your iPhone.
Apple Health
Kettlebuddy only uses Apple Health if you turn it on (Settings → Apple Health) and allow it in the iOS permission screen. You can change what it may read or write at any time in the Health app.
- Writes: each finished workout as strength training, with its duration and calories.
- Reads: sex, date of birth, height, weight, resting heart rate and your other workouts (runs, rides, workouts from other apps). Kettlebuddy uses them only on your iPhone, to fill your profile, judge recovery and fit the plan to the training you did elsewhere.
Health data is never sent anywhere, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared.
Notes for the planner
If you write a note such as "knee's sore" when changing today's workout, it's read on your iPhone by Apple's on-device model (Apple Intelligence). The note isn't sent to the developer or anyone else. The note box only appears when Apple Intelligence is on.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, Kettlebuddy schedules them on your iPhone. No push service or server is involved.
When you contact us
If you send feedback from Settings → Send feedback, your mail app sends an email to contact@kettlebuddy.app. The message includes the app version, the iOS version, the iPhone model and the app's language, so a problem can be reproduced; you can remove them before sending. Emails are used only to answer you and are deleted when they're no longer needed.
Your choices
- Export: Settings → Your data → Export workouts as CSV gives you every set you've logged.
- Delete: Settings → Your data → Delete everything removes all workouts, plans, programs and settings from Kettlebuddy. What was already saved to Apple Health stays there and can be deleted in the Health app.
Children
Kettlebuddy is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly handle children's data; it handles no one's data off the device.
Changes
If Kettlebuddy ever starts sending data off your iPhone (for example, an optional online planner), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the app will ask for your permission first.
